A team of authority officials, including the sub-divisional magistrate and police, reached Shahberi on Wednesday afternoon where the residents had complained about illegal construction going on at night.“Acting on the complaints, we have demolished the structure that was being constructed illegally without getting its layout approved by the authority. The structure was being constructed next to the site where two buildings had collapsed in July last year, killing nine.Following the FIR, the authority demolished the building, as it was allegedly violating the construction norms. In addition to this, the officials have kept visual records of all buildings being constructed in order to stop illegal construction activities in Shahberi. “In order to monitor the ban on construction activities in the area, we are keeping visual records of all the buildings so that the builders who are still doing illegal construction activities can be caught and booked,” Ray added.Meanwhile, the officials also stopped laying of IGL gas pipeline, as they claimed that the excavation was happening without getting permission from the GNIDA..
