Governor Kalyan Singh in trouble? President forwards EC’s poll code violation complain to Centre

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind has forwarded a report over Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh to Home Ministry.

The Election Commission (EC) had written to President Ram Nath Kovind against Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh for violation of model code of conduct.

Kalyan Singh said, "We`re BJP workers and want the BJP to emerge victorious.

We want that once again Modi ji should become PM on May23." Earlier, the Election Commission had written to President Ram Nath Kovind after it found that Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh`s remark on re-election of Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister violated the model code of conduct.
The Election Commission wrote to President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday (April 1) to bring the issue to his notice.

In its letter to the President, the Election Commission highlighted how remarks of the Governor were in violation of the neutral post he holds.

Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot had also objected to the "unfortunate" remarks.

He stated that Singh, as the Governor, should be non-partisan and that it does not suit the dignity of his post.

The Election Commission had sought a factual report from the Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh`s remark that Narendra Modi should be re-elected as the Prime Minister.
