Nitish Shah agree on early seatsharing for LS election

PATNA: Chief minister Nitish Kumar and BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday agreed to take an early decision on seat-sharing among the NDA partners in Bihar for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, JD(U) secretary general K C Tyagi told TOI on Friday.Nitish, who is also the JD(U) president, discussed crucial political matters for 20 minutes in a closed-door meeting with Shah after the dinner he had hosted for the BJP chief at the CM’s house. Select leaders of both the parties, who were present in the dinner, said Nitish and Shah came out of the room with smiles on their faces.“Both the leaders agreed that an agreement on seat-sharing should be reached at the earliest to allow different NDA constituents to make preparations for the elections,” Tyagi said, adding the two would meet again soon.Incidentally, both JD(U) and BJP had been flexing muscles over the “big brother” role in Bihar NDA before Shah’s meeting with Nitish was confirmed. As far as seat-sharing is concerned, we expect that initially a broad consensus will be arrived on the corresponding formula and the final decision on one or two seats might be taken in the last stages,” senior BJP functionary and state road construction department minister Nand Kishore Yadav said.Senior BJP functionary and Rajya Sabha member CP Thakur said, “Though there is no debate on this issue, but Nitish is in the role of big brother in Bihar as he is the CM of the state.”Sources said BJP may give JD(U) 7 to 15 Lok Sabha seats to contest..
