Droughtlike situation in Gaya district

GAYA: Heavy rain deficit in entire June and July first half has created a drought-like situation in Gaya district.Official stats say the rainfall in June this year in the district has only been 98mm as against normal 128mm.The situation is worse for the first half of July. Gaya normally receives 261mm rainfall in the month of July whereas the actual rainfall till July 14 has been only 42.8mm. Last year till July 14, the district received 133mm rainfall.However, according to Gaya DM Abhishek Singh, the situation is not alarming yet though the next few days will be crucial. Gaya should be declared a drought-hit district, he said.
