PATNA: The Congress party on Monday mounted twin attacks on the NDA government, saying women and girls in Bihar were not safe under its dispensation while PM Narendra Modi has asked the BJP to take the ‘asthi kalash’ (urn with ashes) of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee to different states to cement its vote bank.“The BJP is conducting the ‘asthi kalash yatra’ for former PM Vajpayee. In reply to a query on a photo of Congress’s Rajya Sabha member Akhilesh Prasad Singh with Brajesh Thakur, the main accused of the Muzaffarpur sex scandal, Gohil said the picture of deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi and some others had also figured similarly. Gohil also launched the ‘Mahila Suraksha Mirchi Spray’ which the distressed women could use against those who try to outrage their modesty.Gohil said the rape of girls in general and at the Muzaffarpur shelter home in particular amply showed that women were under distress in the state. “The ‘asthi kalash’ is being brought for public viewing, but the Congress should explain why it has allied with the RJD, infamous for jungle raj,” health minister Mangal Pandey said, adding: “Also, the Congress did not give honour to the country’s first home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.”However, the state Congress on Monday presented an exhilarating picture at its state headquarters on the birth anniversary of former PM Rajiv Gandhi. AICC secretaries Rajesh Lilotia and Birendra Singh Rathore, Congress legislature party leader Sadanand Singh, former Union minister Shakeel Ashmad, MLAs Vijay Shankar Dubey and Shaqil Ahmad Khan, former MLAs Shyam Sundar Singh Dheeraj and Harkhoo Jha, as well as MLCs Madan Mohan Jha and Prem Chandra Mishra were among a large number of party’s functionaries were present. On the occasion, Gohil launched the ‘Indira Shakti app’, which addresses safety concerns of women and girls and responds to the distress calls made by them seeking support..
