HC raps CBI for not showing SP transfer letters

PATNA: The Patna high court (HC) on Tuesday reprimanded the CBI for not submitting the correspondence between its authorities in Patna and Delhi on the transfer of SP J P Mishra, who was the investigating officer (IO) of the case of alleged rape of minor girls at Balika Grih, a government shelter home for minor girls at Muzaffarpur.The HC is monitoring the investigation into the case, but Mishra was transferred on August 21 within a month of the initiation of investigation even without intimating the HC.A division bench of Chief Justice M R Shah and Justice Ravi Ranjan had on Monday directed the CBI to submit the correspondence related to Mishra’s transfer. The hearing will continue on Wednesday.The HC also ordered the CBI to submit the victims’ statements recorded before magistrates under Section 164 CrPC.The court directed advocate Shilpa Singh to meet every victim and submit a report on how they were living at Patna and Madhubani and what facilities had been provided to them.It also ordered the state government to take steps for disbursing the compensation to the victims within three weeks after opening their bank accounts, but without publicising their identity..
