Destroy all stocks of seized liquors by September 30 Bihar CM asks officials

PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday asked the state government’s officials to destroy all the stock of seized liquors which are kept either at police stations or other places, latest by September 30. “The role and responsibility of river police stations should also be fixed in the checking illegal influx of liquor,” he said.Nitish said the maximum volumes of illegal liquor were being transported in Bihar from states like Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh and a few others. Such reports are coming from the districts like Saran, Vaishali and Patna. “The SPs of these three districts should hold a joint meeting and take effective steps to put a check on smuggling of liquors through the river route,” CM said.Nitish said, the government had already set up some river police stations in the riverine areas. “If such meeting is held every month on a regular basis, any new matter related to enforcement of prohibition could be taken up and resolved at the meeting,” he said.He said, illegal liquor was also being transported in the state through the route of rivers..
