New state Congress chief takes charge

PATNA: The sharp division in the state Congress was visible when its new president Madan Mohan Jha took charge at the party’s state headquarters on Friday. Quadri was a serious contender for the post of state Congress chief.Only one MLA, Siddharth from Bikram, was present when Quadri had taken charge as the state Congress officiating president.However, a large number of Congress workers thronged the party’s state headquarters at Sadaqat Ashram on Friday. Prominent legislators, including CLP leader Sadanand Singh, former ministers Awadesh Kumar Singh and Abdul Zalil Mastan could not turn up. Congress campaign committee chairman Akhilesh Prasad Singh (MP) and state party’s working presidents Ashok Kumar, Kaukab Quadri, Sameer Kumar Singh and Shyam Sunder Singh Dheeraj also took charge of their respective offices.The party had also organized a reception for the new appointees.
