PATNA: A team of Special Task Force (STF) of Bihar police arrested notorious Maoist leader Ramswarup Yadav (60) from Konch in Gaya on Friday who was accused of looting rifles and ammunitions after killing 10 commandos of first battalion of Bihar Military Police (BMP) in March 2010.STF sources said the BMP commandos were guarding a hawan spot when they came under attack from Yadav’s cadre who had planned it with sole aim to loot arms and ammunitions from them. Eight electric detonators and power gel rods, each, Rs 26,700 levy money, two cellphones and a bike was seized from the duo’s possession.STF sources said that Yadav was altogether carrying Rs 11 lakh reward on his head of which Rs 10 lakh reward was declared by Jharkhand government and rest Rs 1 lakh was declared by Bihar government.“He was zonal commander of Madhya zone of Bihar and Jharkhand and was also the in-charge of Sone-Koyal sub-zone of CPI (Maoist),” STF sources said adding he became Maoist in 1990s.Sources said Yadav was arrested from Aurangabad in 2005 and remained inside jail till 2007 and after coming out of jail, he again got involved in Maoist activities.“At least 50 Maoist cases are lodged against the arrested Maoist commander with different police stations of Gaya and Aurangabad in Bihar and Palamu in Jharkhand,” sources said.They said that Akhilesh is also accused in several cases lodged with different police stations of Gaya and Aurangabad.“It was Yadav and his cadre only who had blew a police jeep into pieces using a land mine in December 2013 at Navi Nagar Nahar in Gaya killing at least ten police personnel including the then Tandwa police station SHO Ajay Kumar,” STF sources said.They said the SHO was a 2009 batch sub-inspector and was returning with his team after attending a crime meeting from Gaya town,” STF sources said.Sources said Yadav along with his cadre was involved in heavy exchange of fire with a STF team which took place at hills of Chakarbandha in Gaya last year.“This year also, he was involved in two separate encounters with STF at Langrahi and Pachrukhia villages under Madanpur police station area in Gaya,” they said.They said least ten associates of Yadav are yet to be arrested..
