Criminals cut open 2 ATMs in Patna steal Rs 42L

PATNA: Thumbing their nose at police, criminals looted altogether Rs 41.97 lakh after cutting open two ATMs with the help of a gas-cutting machine in the state capital on Wednesday-Thursday night. They also made an abortive bid to cut open yet another ATM.While a sum of Rs 34.33 lakh was stolen from the ATM of Union Bank of India at Beur Mor, another Rs 7.64 lakh was thieved from an ATM of Canara Bank at Saguna Mor. “But many ATM kiosks are located in secluded areas and, as such, it becomes difficult for the patrolling parties to spot suspicious activities near the kiosks,” he said. “It was the sweeper who first spotted the damaged ATM.
