Vigilance sleuths seize from Rs 3.27L from clerk

PATNA: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau sleuths on Saturday night seized Rs 3.27 lakh from the residence of Danapur Nagar Parishad’s head assistant Uma Shankar Prasad (58), who was nabbed accepting a bribe of Rs 1.67 lakh from contractor Vidyanandan Singh near a Bharat Petroleum outlet on Gola Road in Patna . Begusarai ADM Om Prakash Prasad was also arrested on Saturday on charges of accepting Rs 6 lakh as bribe from advocate Ram Pramod Singh (51).The vigilance sleuths had earlier recovered Rs 22.9 lakh from an almirah in the office of head assistant Uma Shankar at Danapur. “The executive officer said the cash was not government money. He also said Prasad was not given any responsibility of handling the cash,” the DSP said.Both Uma Shankar and Bharti were produced before a special vigilance court in Patna on Sunday from where they were sent to jail.Altogether Rs 9.11 lakh was seized from Begusarai ADM’s official and private residences during Saturday’s raid..
