Congress move to restructure district block committees

BHAGALPUR: Hinting at the restructuring the district as well as block-level committees of the party, the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC), at its executive committee meeting, unanimously decided to review the work of district and block party functionaries across the state. Those whose work is found unsatisfactory will be replaced by energetic partymen.The BPCC executive committee meeting was held on Friday evening after a daylong meet of divisional workers at Kahalgaon. The executive committee members also felt the need to focus on the rural and suburban voters who have been the backbone of Congress since long.The executive committee also discussed the forthcoming rally being organized by the BPCC at Patna on February 3, which will be addressed by AICC president Rahul Gandhi. The executive committee meeting was presided over by AICC national spokesperson and in-charge of party’s Bihar affairs Shaktisinh Gohil and attended by 61 members, including the sitting MLAs and MLCs besides the Kishanganj MP.Sources said the executive committee stressed the need to strengthen the organization and widen its socio-political base in order to take on the challenges the party is facing with the emergence of BJP as well as regional parties. The Lok Sabha election of 2019 was also on the agenda of the executive committee meet.Those who participated in the deliberations included Congress legislative party leader and nine-time MLA Sadanand Singh, BPCC president Madan Mohan Jha, former BPCC acting president Kaukab Qadri, former BPCC president Anil Sharma, Sameer Kumar Singh, MLC Prem Chandra Mishra, Shyam Sunder Singh Dheeraj, Virendra Singh Rathore, Dr Javed, Kishanganj MP Asharul Haq, MLA Ajit Sharma, Parveen Singh and Rajesh Lilauthia..
