PATNA: A delegation of the Patna high court advocates met governor Lalji Tandon on Saturday with a five-point memorandum demanding a comprehensive law for protection of lawyers in the backdrop of their colleague Jitendra Kumar’s murder in the city on Wednesday.The governor assured them to tell CM Nitish Kumar to look into the matter. He also assured us about talking to CM on the issue,”Verma told TOI over phone. Protection Act for advocates is already in existence in Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh, he said.Verma said they have been demanding such law from the government for the last five years but no concrete steps were taken so far. He said the delegation also raised the issue of compensation and job to the dependants of Jitendra.“The governor asked us to wait till investigation ends as Jitendra’s wife herself is an accused in the case while his daughter is a minor,” he said.
