Patna: Met forecasts ‘cold’ Xmas

PATNA: People are likely to celebrate Christmas amid chill as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cold wave conditions, especially in the southwestern parts of the state, on Tuesday. The minimum reading of 8.2 degrees C was two notches lower than the normal.Gaya was the coldest place in Bihar on Monday with a minimum temperature of 3.8 degrees C, six notches lower than normal. Accordingly, cold wave conditions are expected at several places in state like Nawada, Aurangabad and Bhabhua on Tuesday. The winds are in fact blowing at an average speed of 15kmph even in night hours in south Bihar, leading to sharp plunge in temperature. Patna and most other parts of the state are facing sub-10 chills over the past few days under the influence of northwesterly winds blowing in the region.From the season’s lowest 7.6 degrees C recorded on Sunday morning, the minimum temperature witnessed a slight surge of 0.6 degrees C over the last 24 hours and stood at 8.2 degrees C on Monday morning..
