187 e-carts to collect garbage from Patna lanes

PATNA: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has purchased 187 battery-operated e-carts to collect garbage from narrow lanes of the city. Each cart has the capacity to collect 600kg of garbage at a time.PMC sources said the carts, which are modified form of e-rickshaws, have been mainly procured to collect garbage from Bankipore circle of the civic body where several residential colonies have narrow lanes. Chief sanitary inspectors have been assigned the task of imposing fine on the errant people.Pet owners, beware! The e-carts will also be used in other circles as per the requirement. PMC has also hired outsourced drivers to run these e-carts.Like auto-tippers which move in the city for door-to-door garbage collection, the e-carts will also play music so that residents can get to know about their arrival.Door-to-door garbage collection had resumed in the city in October last year..
