Patna HC slams CBI for ‘slack’ probe

The high court had ordered a CBI inquiry into the case on October 22, 2016.The licences were being used by private guards working for Security and Intelligence Services (India) Limited (SIS). PATNA: The Patna high court on Thursday came down heavily on the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for not conducting proper investigation into a case related to recovery of three fake arms licences from Gopalpur in Bhagalpur district on February 10, 2013. The CBI had informed the HC that all licences were fake ones.CBI counsel Sanjay Kumar prayed for three months’ time to submit their report on inquiry and the court accepted his request. However, Justice Amanullah did not accept the submissions and cited orders of Supreme Court and Jharkhand High court for finding the case fit for ordering inquiry looking at its pan-India effect. An FIR was lodged against three guards after arms were recovered from the SIS barrack under Gopalpur police station..
