JPU drive to boost cashless transactions

"It may be mentioned here that UGC has asked educational institutes to rope in volunteers associated with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) for the initiative. The volunteers will adopt one market outside campus and help shopowners make the transition to digital transactions. "Under this scheme, the cadets would organize workshops in colleges and educate fellow students as how to make payments through their mobiles. CHHAPRA: National Service Scheme ( NSS ) cadets of JP University will launch an awareness campaign on digital payments under 'My Mobile, My Bank Scheme', among students and shopkeepers.NSS coordinator Prof Harish Chandra said, "The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed the universities and its affiliated institutions to launch a campaign to create awareness about cashless and digital transactions among the student community and market area. "The cadets will also make people aware about fraudulent withdrawals from bank accounts and how to prevent such fraud," said Chandra.Apart from this, all the 21 constituent colleges will install biometric system of attendance for both students and teachers.JPU VC Harikesh Singh said, "No classes will be dropped without prior information and 75% attendance has been made compulsory for students.".
