Flood situation slightly eases in Bihar

"We have received reports of falling water level in majority of the rivers in the flood affected districts in north Bihar. The discharge from most other barrages in north Bihar including those on rivers Kosi, Mahananda and Bagmati were showing a falling trend on Tuesday. Besides, four more teams of NDRF from Bhatinda in Punjab were expected to arrive at Patna by Wednesday evening. Pandey, in- chage of the emergency control room of disaster management department at Patna informed that 22 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed at Khagaria , Sitamarhi, West Champaran, East Chamapran , Supaul and Gopalganj among others. This is primarily due to reduced rainfall activities in north Bihar and Nepal over the last 12 hours," said Shanti Ranjan Sharma, superintending engineer, flood monitoring cell, WRD, Patna.India Meteorological Department has also issued forecast that rainfall activities are now gradually expected to reduce in the region..
