Summary:

PATNA: Patna University ( PU ) vice-chancellor Rash Bihari Prasad Singh wants to hold the much-awaited Patna University Students' Union (PUSU) election in November, but sources said Raj Bhavan is not in its favour at the moment. "A move has already been initiated by the chancellor's secretariat to get a uniform statute framed for all the universities for facilitating students' union elections. It was held without the chancellor's approval, but mainly as per Lyngdoh Committee recommendations, said a source. "Raj Bhavan will not allow PU to take any such risk," sources said. If sources are to be believed, a committee of two or three vice-chancellors will soon be constituted by the chancellor to finalize a uniform statute as per Lyngdoh Committee recommendations to hold students' union elections in all universities in the state.Raj Bhavan had to intervene in the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University students' union election recently in view of the disturbances created by students and had to postpone it for an indefinite period..
