Mahabodhi temple gets hi-tech scanner

Though temple security has been considerably strengthened in the wake of the terrorist attack, the much-promised CISF take over of the temple security is yet to materialise. GAYA: A heavy duty scanner was installed on Thursday at the main entrance of Mahabodhi temple to scan the hand baggage of the visitors. The scanner was jointly inaugurated by Magadh division commissioner Jitendra Srivastava and Gaya DM Kumar Ravi. The state-of-the-art scanner can instantly identify objectionable items being taken by the visitors.According to the DM, besides detecting concealed explosives, the scanner has got zoom and recording facility. The second scanner has been necessitated by heavy footfall in the temple during tourist season, said a source at the temple.The shrine, it may be recalled, figures on the hit list of terrorist organisations..
