Geethanathan demanded the government to initiate steps to reopen the Government Cooperative Sugar Mills at Lingareddypalayam and settle the pending arrears to sugar cane farmers. They demanded the immediate withdrawal of the Land Acquisition Act, 2014 and waiver of loans availed by farmers from nationalised, cooperative and private banks. The protestors demanded a monthly pension of ?10,000 from the government, to farmers and agricultural labourers over 60 years of age..
