Puducherry records a massive surge in Covid-19 cases

Covid-19 continues to wreak havoc in the country; Puducherry is facing a massive surge in Covid-19 cases with every passing day.

Puducherry reported 1819 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours, while 18 people succumbed to the virus in the Union Territory.

The active cases tally has mounted to 11,717 while total cases stand at 65,117.
The cumulative death toll has reached 88 after 18 persons died of the disease in the last 24-hours.

Total recovered patients reached 52,517 after 933 people receiving treatment recovered from the Covid-19 virus in the last 24-hours.

Director of Health and Family Welfare Services S Mohan Kumar said that 1435 cases have been reported from Puducherry, 182 from Karaikal, 180 from Yanam and 22 cases from Mahe.

The death rate in the UT is 1.36 % while the recovery rate is 80.65 %.

Director S Mohan Kumar said that till now 8.25 lakh people have been tested for Covid-19 in the state, out of which 7.52 lakh people came negative.
