Puducherry: UT logs 104 new cases, active cases dip below 1300

The Puducherry headquarters received the highest 87 new Covid-19 cases, followed by Karaikal (7), Yanam (0) and Mahe (10).

Puducherry received 104 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours ending at 10 am on Friday, while two people succumbed to the virus on Thursday.

Fresh cases on Thursday pushed the UTs total cases tally to 1.19 lakh.

The cumulative death toll has reached 1,775 after the death of two patients in the last 24-hours.

The active cases tally has further dipped to 1248.

The Puducherry headquarters received the highest 87 new Covid-19 cases, followed by Karaikal (7), Yanam (0) and Mahe (10).

Director of the Health and Family Welfare department, S Mohan Kumar said that, so far 37,665 vaccine doses have been given to health workers and 22,945 to frontline workers.

3,389 general public were inoculated with the Covid-19 vaccine yesterday, while 4.42 lakh people in all age groups have been vaccinated to date.

Puducherry has administered 6.26 lakh vaccines including the second dose (general Public + Covid warriors).

The official said that 161 patients have also recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 1.16 lakhs.

The Health Department tested 6,119 samples in the last 24-hours.

UT recorded a test positivity rate (TPR) of 1.70%.

The recovery rate in the UT reached 97.47%, while the death rate was recorded at 1.49%.
