Puducherry, Oct 7 (PTI) The union territory of Puducherry logged 64 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours pushing the overall tally to 1,26,806, a senior official of Department of Health said on Thursday.
The new cases identified at the end of the examination of 5,246 samples were spread over Puducherry (35), Karaikal (23), and Mahe (6).
Yanam did not report any fresh infections, Director of the Health Department G Sriramulu said.
He said there was no fresh fatality in any of the four regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM on Thursday and the death toll remained at 1,844.
Sriramulu said the Health Department has so far tested 18.25 lakh samples and found 15.49 lakh out of them to be negative.
The number of active cases stood at 655 with 102 undergoing treatment in in hospitals and the remaining 553 in home isolation, the Director said.
