EU film fest closes at NFAI auditorium in Pune

PUNE: The European Union Film Festival for 2018 concluded at the auditorium of the National Film Archive of India NFAI ) on Saturday. The collection of films had been curated by the European Union Mission in India, so as to give a taste to Indian audiences about the new stories and techniques in European films. The festival, which started on July 6 with the French film 9 Mois Ferme, ended with the screening of Belgian science-fiction drama Labyrinthe. In all, 24 films were screened at the festival, most of whom released after 2014.The festival concluded with a closing ceremony that involved a masterclass in European cinema by Douglas Boswell, the director of Labyrinthe. The discussion involved modern film-making techniques in European cinema, as well as the themes that filmmakers are exploring in their movies.Besides Boswell, the consul-general of Belgium in Mumbai, Peter Huyghebart along with actor Bram Spooren, and the NFAI director Prakash Magdum were present at the closing ceremony.The festival had been opened by Magdum, and Ujwal Nirgudkar, a film processing expert and member of the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts, and Sciences (AMPAS), which gives out the Oscars..
