Water stock enough to meet Punersquos annual requirement

Though the city has been allowed to lift 11.5 TMC water per year, the civic administration has been drawing around 15 TMC water, considering the growing water requirements.The four dams collectively have the capacity to store 29.35 TMC of water. The catchments of Temghar registered over 1,425mm rainfall in the current season.The 14.73 TMC water stock that was recorded on Saturday is around 5 TMC more than last year’s stock recorded by the four dams during the same period. Since June 1, the catchments of Panshet have recorded 1,005mm of rainfall, while Varasgaon’s catchments have received 1,004mm. The department said that a decision on releasing water from Khadakwasla was yet to be taken. The stock in Panshet and Varasgaon was recorded at 65.89% and 36.94% respectively.Meanwhile, Saturday’s spells of rain in Panshet and Varasgaon’s catchment areas have pushed the season’s rainfall beyond the 1,000mm mark..
