Pune MahaMetro launches road safety campaign

The campaign will travel across the city in a phased manner.The MahaMetro officials said that there was an attempt to reach out to maximum commuters on road through the ongoing campaign with a message of safe driving habits.“Initial response to the campaign has been encouraging. Our staff members along with the traffic police are going to various chowks to hold dialogue with commuters. PUNE: The MahaMetro Rail Corporation , which is constructing two metro corridors in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, recently launched “road safety campaign” to create awareness among drivers and pedestrians about traffic rules and regulations.The campaign was launched at Nal Stop chowk on Karve Road and Deccan Gymkhana wherein the awareness drive was held at Deccan Corner and at various traffic signals in the area. We are following a simple format during the campaign. They are distributing handbills among riders with an appeal to follow traffic rules and not to indulge in wrong practices such talking on mobile while driving, use of footpaths to ride bikes, driving without helmet”, officials said.The MahaMetro said that the campaign will also go to colleges and schools in later stage..
