Power demand peaks to 20000MW

Pune: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd met the demand for 20,330MW power on Saturday without any load curtailment, which is almost equal to the highest ever demand of 20,340MW power recorded on April 23, 2018.This demand is about 3,500MW more as compared to the previous year for September. The generation available from Mahagenco was 5,116MW, about 3,536MW from NTPC, about 461MW from NPCIL and 2,394MW from Adani Power. The total contracted capacity of 1,200MW was available from RPL. Further, 588MW from CGPL, 280MW from JSW and 87MW from EMCO was available,” the statement said. In respect of generation from renewable energy source, 628MW was available from solar and 115MW from wind projects.In anticipation of the demand rise, the distribution company has made arrangements to meet the shortfall by purchase of power through bilateral short term tender and Indian Energy Exchange..
