Pune airport to auction unclaimed ‘lost’ items

PUNE: Unclaimed walking sticks, golf clubs, baby walkers, jackets, electronic goods and even handbags left behind by passengers at the Pune airport will soon go under the hammer.Officials at the airport will auction these items for three days, starting on September 25. On any given day, as many as 10-15 different kinds of items are left behind by passengers,” said an airport official. Usually, when they remember, the passengers return to claim their lost goods, but sometimes, no one comes to claim them. Many passengers do not even try as they are not aware of the efficient system in place for reclaiming lost articles.” Unclaimed articles are usually detected by the CISF personnel, or are handed over to them by the cleaning staff or other workers at the airport..
