500 evehicle charging stations to come up across Maharashtra

In this set up, it will require 45 minutes to one hour to charge a vehicle completely.The tariff is fixed at the rate of Rs 6 per unit on the basis of time of day (TOD) for charging of vehicles.Also, there will be a discount of Rs 1.50 on the power tariff of the e-vehicle charging station if the vehicles are charged between 10 pm and 6 am. Pune: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited will set up 500 e-vehicle charging stations across the state to encourage use of electric vehicles.In the first phase, a total of 50 charging stations will be set up — four each in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Panvel, six in Thane, 10 each in Pune and Nagpur, and 12 along the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, said a statement issued by the distribution company here on Thursday.The e-tendering process for the project is in the last phase and the work order will be given within a week.The Amravati Road Substation at Nagpur and the Paradigm substation at Pune have set up a fast DC charging station each which will start working very soon, the statement said.The cost of setting up an e-vehicle charging station is around Rs 2.5 lakh.These e-vehicle charging stations will be set up in the free/empty space of substations of the distribution company.These will be fast DC charging stations..
