Pimpri Chinchwad police to launch public awareness campaign for traffic violations

PUNE: The Pimpri Chinchwad police has decided to initiate a public awareness campaign against traffic violations in the region. If convicted under the section, the driver can be fined Rs 1000 or imprisoned for up to six months or both. Criminal cases under section 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code will be filed against the persons. Last week, 19 people were penalized on Talegaon railway station premises, Dehu Road, Wakad , Hinjewadi, Pimpri, Nigdi , and Bhosari, Padmanabhan added.From September 15, the police have taken action against 85 people for flouting various traffic norms in PCMC limits. Motorists entering the Nigdi-Dapodi BRTS corridor along the Mumbai-Pune highway were also booked,” police said..
