Consequently, he was commissioned as Second Lieutenant into 14 the battalion of Maratha Light Infantry in 1972.In early 90s, Shinde was tasked to form a parachute battalion. Post retirement, Col Shinde has served as regional director of Army Welfare Housing Organisation of Southern Command for three years. In fact, he has founded 411 Para field company of the Bombay Sappers.After graduating from Wadia College, Shinde joined the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun.
