PCB razes unauthorized shops in MG Road building

PUNE: The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) on Friday demolished illegal modifications made to a building on the busy MG Road in Pune Camp.PCB officials said that they carried out the drive keeping in line with a directive passed by the Bombay high court on September 9 this year. The drive was delayed so far as the board did not get police bundobust.The board had filed a petition against a ruling by a lower court in this matter in 1998. Since then the matter was pending the high court, which issued the directive in September.“The owner had been utilizing about 6000 square feet of basement parking space illegally for commercial purposes,” PCB chief executive officer D N Yadav told TOI. “Besides, he had also constructed intermediate slabs without the cantonment board’s permission..
