Traffic cops reach out to schools colleges

PUNE: The traffic police have designed a module to make school and college students aware about road rules.The department, along with Road Safety Patrol and citizen volunteers, plans to reach out to 600 educational institutes in the coming days. Deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Tejaswi Satpute said, “The volunteers and our personnel have started conducting the sessions. They are visiting at least 10 schools and colleges daily to conduct the sessions. But we can inculcate the habit of following traffic rules among children so that they abide by the regulations in the future.” We are conducting the sessions for students of standard VII and above.”ACP (traffic) Devidas Patil said five citizen volunteers have been selected from each traffic division and they were trained recently at the Shivajinagar police headquarters..
