Suspended law officer of police in net for graft

PUNE: State Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) personnel arrested a suspended law officer of the Pune rural police and another person for allegedly accepting Rs10 lakh as bribe from a man near the General Post Office on Tuesday evening.The rural police had initiated proceedings against the man under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). The suspended law officer, Chandrakant Kamble, had demanded the money as bribe to submit a favourable report.Officials said a man approached the ACB on Tuesday, saying Kamble had demanded Rs10 lakh to submit a favourable report related to his employer against whom the police had initiated the MCOCA proceedings.Kamble told the man that he was still serving the rural police and could manipulate reports. An ACB team, led by superintendent of police Sandeep Diwan and additional SP Suhas Nadgouda caught Kamble and Shashikant Jaypraskash Rao (50).The ACB also arrested a Marunji resident, Bhalchandra Sandeepan Kanade (38), for accepting a bribe of Rs2,600 from a public service vehicle driver to allow him transport passengers in the Hinjewadi-Wakad area..
