498 classrooms dangerously dilapidated in Pune

PUNE: As many as 498 classrooms , in 242 schools, in the Pune district are in a dilapidated condition, found a survey conducted by the education department of the Pune Zilla Parishad (ZP).The ZP officials have ordered all the 242 schools to make alternative temporary arrangements for the students of these dangerous classrooms. While the Pune ZP will reconstruct these classrooms, arranging for the funds from the government may take some time.The survey was ordered after three students were injured at the Narayanpur ZP School. Till December 2018, close to 500 classrooms were found to be in a dilapidated state. As of now, all block officers have been strictly instructed to stop conducting classes in classrooms that are in a dangerous state. They have been asked to make arrangements either within the same school or in nearby schools..
