PCMC Rs 73 crore behind its annual property tax target

Pimpri Chinchwad: The civic body’s property tax department faces an uphill task of collecting Rs73 crore over the next two days to achieve its annual target of Rs525 crore for 2018-19.Speaking to TOI assistant commissioner Pravin Ashtikar of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) said, “The department has collected Rs452 crore until Friday evening from 3.07 lakh property holders.”Another PCMC official added, “There are 5.08 lakh properties registered with the department as of now. Almost all the defaulters have cleared their arrears.”The official said that the department will keep its offices open on March 31 until 6pm or until every person in the queues is able to pay the amount due as property tax..
