Pune: The Pune Municipal Cooperation (PMC) declared to not have any containment zones in Pune City after nine months period that started in April 2020.
The decision was taken after precisely reviewing the COVID-19 situations in the city.
Between 200 and 300 fresh positive cases are being reported in PMC since last few days that led to the decision of removing the containment zones.
Vikram Kumar, the municipal commissioner lodged containment zone order on December 31.
He said, “There would be zero micro containment zones in the city.
If a rise in positive cases is reported from specific areas or housing societies, it would be declared as a micro containment zone.”
The first containment zone was announced in April when the central part of the city, from Gultekdi Maharshinagar to RTO office and Kondhwa area, which has a dense population with rising Covid-19 cases.
Furthermore, by July there was at least 100 containment zone.
