Univs get extension to set up senate & mgmt bodies

Apart from a few minor incidents, the senate voting process was peaceful although the overall voter turnout stood at 47.6%. "The Senate, management council and academic council are authorities of the university that take important decisions. Pune: Varsities in the state have been given a three-month extension to form a senate, management as well as other bodies as per the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016.Several varsities have fallen behind the deadline to process the elections and form the crucial bodies. All universities must form a Senate body on priority and hence elections for the same would be held first, followed by management and academic council elections.
