Assistant commandant of CoBRA injured in IED blast in Sukma

RAIPUR: Day after security forces gunned down 15 Maoists in Bastar, an assistant commandant of CRPF's elite unit CoBRA battalion was injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Sukma district on Tuesday. It was on their return journey to camp when the assistant commandant K Ijung stepped on the pressure IED planted by Maoists under the ground. The IED exploded leaving Ijung severely injured. Moreover, when the IEDs are planted at tricky curves or diversions on a construction site go undetected at times.Security forces had gunned down 15 Maoists on Monday in an encounter in dense forest in Sukma. The CoBRA troops were out for area domination when the commandant inadvertently stepped on the bomb planted by Maoists.Sukma SP Abhishek Meena told reporters that a team of CRPF's 201st battalion of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) was out on area domination operation in the forests..
