1.53 crore to vote in second phase of Chhattisgarh polls today

Raipur: Chhattisgarh is all set to go for second and final phase of polling on Tuesday amid tight security. State Congress president Bhupesh Baghel is seeking re-election from Patan constituency where the BJP has pitted Motilal Sahu against him. Senior Congress leader T S Singhdeo is seeking re-election for the third consecutive time from Ambikapur with BJP's Anurag Singhdeo as his main rival. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Gondwana Gantantra party (GGP) and other parties and many independents are also in the fray. In this phase, voting will take place in 72 constituencies in which more than 1.53 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise.They will vote to choose their representatives from among 1079 candidates in one of the toughest ever contest in the state.In the second phase, a large number of constituencies are witnessing triangular or multi-cornered contests between the BJP, Congress and the third front of Janata Congress-Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and CPI..
