Railway passengers caught travelling without tickets, 2 lakh fine collected

RAIPUR: In a surprise drive to nab passengers travelling without ticket in trains, South East Central Railway carried out extensive checking and recovered a fine of Rs 2 lakh in Durg on Friday. Railway magistrate Sarv Vijay Agrawal had ordered to conduct the drive in which passengers in 28 trains, including 10 locals and 18 express trains, were checked. The hot-key tickets are now available at Raipur railway station and would soon be available in other stations under the division as well.The hot-key software enables the operator to press button of desired station to print tickets and saves time.In another move, Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested a fake trooper of Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) at Raipur railway station.The accused, who was nabbed in CAF uniform, was identified as Jaidesh Sheel hailing for Dharamjaigarh region of Raigarh district. They were slapped with a fine in several cases, including 278 cases of travelling without ticket, 187 cases of improper ticket, 214 cases of illegal luggage where in railways collected afine of Rs 201030.During the drive, the magistrate was accompanied by divisional commercial manager (DCM) Masud Alam Ansari, 9 commercial inspectors, 29 TTE staff, 10 personnel of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and 5 Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel.They have appealed passengers to travel with valid tickets..
