Loan sharks booked for suicide of SME unit owner

Rajkot: Two moneylenders were booked for abetting the suicide of the owner of an SME (small and medium enterprise) unit owner in the Aji Dam area of Rajkot late on Tuesday late evening. Rathod’s wife was unaware of the loan her husband had taken from the accused, they added. The accused were booked for abetment of suicide and under the Moneylending Act. Bhogilal and his son Pratik were booked for abetting the suicide of Kishore Rathod (37), who hanged himself at his uncle’s farmhouse on Aji Dam Road on July 12.During investigation, police retrieved messages from Rathod’s phone, which said he was being threatened by the accused who had lent him money. Further probe revealed that Rathod, a resident of Sahakar Society on Mahudi Road had been getting threats from the accused on his mobile phone for past 18 months.Rathod had an SME unit in the Atika industrial area where he manufactured nuts, bots and other small parts according to the job work he secured.Police said Rathod is survived by his wife and two children..
