Diamantaire robbed of gems worth Rs 5 lakh

Rajkot: Three masked robbers targeted a diamantaire at his unit and made off with 37 carats of polished diamonds, 110 carats of unpolished diamonds and Rs 30,000 cash, all together worth Rs 5.3 lakh, at Radhakrishna Complex on Bhavnagar-Talaja Road on Thursday morning.According to the complaint lodged by the diamantaire, Ashok Jasoria (45), who lives near Tapovan School in Bhavnagar, when he went to his unit on Thursday morning and was performing puja three masked robbers barged in. They told Jasoria to hand them the key to the safe, gathered the valuables and fled,” said J M Chawda, inspector of Bharatnagar police station.“We have registered the case and started investigation by collecting CCTV footage and quizzing the workers at the factory,” Chawda said, adding that the possibility of any insider being involved in the crime is not being ruled out by the police..
