Court officials fail to seize property of Cong MLA’s kin

Rajkot: Following last month’s order of Amreli court to seize movable properties of Congress MLA from Lathi Virji Thummar’s brother and nephew in connection with a cheating case, the court officials reached the house of accused Dilip Thummar and Jayesh Thummar on Monday.However, since the house was locked, the court officials had to return empty-handed. When the farmers did not get the subsidy they filed a civil suit in Gondal court against Dilip and Jayesh.Advocate for the farmers, Amin Gauri said, “Gondal court in 2016 had ordered recovery of the amount taken from farmers with interest from the property of the accused duo. Their property is located in Amreli district so decree was transferred to Amreli court and principal senior civil judge passed an order last month to seize their property to recover the amount.”According to one of the complainant farmer Nitesh Vagda, “Virji Thummar in between gave assurance to give back our money. But it was false promise.” The petitioner in the cased will be approaching the court seeking permission break the lock of the house and seize the movable properties.According to case detail, Saurashtra Kisan Vikas Trust run by Dilip Ratilal Thummar and Jayesh Babubhai Thummar, had promised farmers subsidy on farm equipment and collected total Rs 57 lakh from 144 farmers of Mariya village in Gondal taluka of Rajkot..
