Transporter stabbed to death by friend over financial dispute

Rajkot: A 30-year-old transporter was stabbed to death by one of his friends and his two accomplices over some financial dispute in Amreli town Monday midnight.The deceased Mahesh Zala, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar in Amreli, succumbed to stab wounds at Rajkot Civil Hospital on Tuesday morning.Police has booked Mahesh’s friend Chirag Thakar and two unidentified men for murder. According to police, the incident took place near a paan shop at Chakkargadh Circle in Amreli. Amreli DySP LB Monparat of the SC/ST Cell is conducting the investigation in the case. The accused then fled the crime scene on motorcycle.Mahesh was first taken to Amreli civil hospital and then rushed to Rajkot Civil Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries on Tuesday.Police said that though the exact reason behind the murder was not known, it appeared that the accused and the deceased had some financial dispute. At around 11.45pm, on Monday, Mahesh had gone to have paan when Chirag and the other accused attacked him.Police said that two persons held Mahesh by the arm while Chirag stabbed him over half a dozen times in the abdomen, chest and hand..
