Liquor worth Rs 18 lakh seized; three arrested

RAJKOT: In two different raids conducted in Rajkot and Jamjodhpur of Jamnagar district, consignments of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 18 lakh were seized on Saturday night. Three persons were arrested in this connection.The first raid was carried out at Rafalagam on Kuwadawa Road in Rajkot, where a total of 3,612 IMFL bottles, worth Rs 10.83 lakh, were seized from a truck and three persons were arrested.“Those arrested include the truck driver, identified as Suresh Bishnoi (28), and the truck cleaner, identified as Naresh Bishnoi (20), both residents of Sarnau village of Chanchor taluka in Jhalor district of Rajasthan , and Deepak Makwana (32), a resident of Dudhsagar Road in Rajkot, who was piloting the truck on his bike,” said Kuwadawa Road police station sub-inspector V P Ahir The second raid was conducted at Sonvadia village in Jamjodhpur taluka in Jamnagar district, where a total of 1,452 IMFL bottles, worth Rs 7.26 lakh, were seized from a check dam “The liquor cache had been secreted in the dam by the accused, identified as Tapu Hun and Meru Hun, who escaped before the raid,” said an official from Jamjodhpur police station..
