Foresters rescue lioness from village

RAJKOT: A five-year-old lioness was rescued by forest department officials from a village in Amreli district of Gujarat on Sunday night.The lioness was spotted in a room, used to store farm products, at a farmer's house by locals who later informed the forest officials.According to forest department, the lioness had entered a house in Amreli district in Tulsisyam range of Gir east division. The wild cat killed a buffalo calf inside the premise of the house and thereafter entered into the store room and sat on the bags of groundnut.Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF) Amreli, P.

Purushottama, told TOI, “We got full cooperation of farmer and nearby people so we didn’t require to cage the lion , we broke a rear door and prepared a safe passage to ensure its passage into the jungle safely.".
