Rajkot municipal corporation to sell treated water to industries, housing societies

RAJKOT: Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has decided to sell domestic waste water after treatment to local industries and real estate developers.RMC has six sewerage plants in the city, which release 115 million litres per day (MLD) wate after treatment. Currently, this water is being released in Bhadar-2 river after treatment.The civic body intends to sell this treated water at Rs 14.30 per 1,000 litres for industrial use, gardening, nursing, construction work and vehicle washing. Over the past two days, RMC officials held meetings with various stakeholders like industrial representatives of Aji, Lodhika, Shapar and other associations surrounding the city area.The officers also held meeting with real estate developers and some of the cooperative societies who require water.Municipal commissioner Banchha Nidhi Pani said, “This water quality is good and can be used for all purposes except drinking..
