Oil millers seek incentives for peanut export

Rajkot: Saurashtra Oil Mills Association (SOMA) has warned the government that if the union ministry of commerce won’t declare incentives for peanut export it will have to face the repercussion in upcoming general elections.SOMA shot a letter to commerce ministry demanding export incentives for peanuts. The traders are demanding nearly six percent duty drawback on export of peanuts. India is facing tough competition from African countries, said Shah.The custom department has made it mandatory to get certificate of Agricultural Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) for the export of peanut. India exports six lakh tonne peanuts every year out of that 3 lakh tonne is exported from Saurashtra, which is the largest groundnut producing area in the country.
